José Álvarez is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 35 years of experience in auditing, assurance, and business consulting.

Throughout his professional career he has served as Senior Manager and Partner in three of the four largest international audit and accounting firms (Big Four), leading audits of companies in sectors such as commerce, industry, construction, energy, telecommunications, financial services, education, international projects, and agribusiness, both nationally and regionally. Furthermore, he has served as a consultant in finance, risk management, corporate governance, internal audit, forensic audit, judicial expert testimony, and agreed-upon procedures, contributing his extensive experience to institutional improvement and strengthening processes.

José earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Panama and holds a Master’s Degree in Finance and a Postgraduate Degree in Strategic Management from ULACIT. He has participated in international seminars in the United States, Mexico, Peru, and Colombia focused on auditing, finance, risk management, internal audit, and accounting. He also holds a certification in Forensic Auditing granted by FELABAN. He has been a professor in the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Diploma Program at the Specialized University of the Certified Public Accountant (UNESCPA), sharing his knowledge with new generations of professionals.
